The Blind Side

If you haven’t seen the movie The Blind Side, with Tim McGraw who plays Sean Tuohy and Sandra Bullock who plays Leigh Ann Tuohy, what are you doing with your life? There are many reasons that this film just so happens to be my all time favorite movie. Honestly, the first thing that drew me towards watching it was the fact the Sandra Bullock was in it and it’s about football. I absolutely love Sandra Bullock and have liked every movie that she’s been in and who doesn’t love a good football movie? For those who have not seen The Blind Side, I’ll give you a short overview. Sandra Bullock and Tim McGraw play as a happy, rich, southern family in Mississippi. One night, the Tuohy’s are driving home and see, who we later know as Michael Oher, walking down the street with nothing but a plastic bag in his hand. They stop Michael and ask him where he is heading. This is where the Tuohy’s find out that Michael is actually homeless. Leigh Ann, with her big heart, invites Michael to stay the night with them, which he does. Long story short, Michael soon becomes a part of the Tuohy family. The Tuohy’s get him involved in school and come to find out that Michael is a very good football player. By the end of the movie, Michael gets a scholarship for football to the University of Mississippi. Okay, enough of this you get the gist. One of the many reasons that I thoroughly enjoy this  movie is because, unlike many movies, this one has a heart warming story that is actually true. Yep, this movie is based off of a true story. At the end of the movie, they even show the real  Michael Oher with his modern day family. Another thing that is very good in this movie are the special effects. The Blind Side isn’t exactly the movie that you would imagine to have decent special effects, you would mostly think of something like a Transformers or Fast and Furious movie for this type of thing. However, there is one scene in the movie where Michael is driving and he gets into a car wreck and the scene is very realistic and looks like it was played out very well. Other than things like the special effects or the actual story of the movie, these things couldn’t have come together without the work of the amazing actors in this movie. Sandra Bullock and Tim McGraw do a wonderful job in this movie.

  1. Liz,

This review shows some good insights into the movie and demonstrates a nuanced understanding of its major themes. However, its tone sounds more like a personal journal or diary and less like the tone of a film review you would read in a newspaper or online magazine. When you chose a blog for revision, work on mimicking the tone and structure of the example essays.
